1. 1. About TSI
T-S-1 is a thrilling youthful talented music group, the youngsters hold the crowds captive, the audience sits on the edge of their seats while some get on their feet entirely unruffled by this exciting hip-hop group who are steadily gaining popularity both locally and internationally. Their talents and captivating voices saw the birth of Slum talent trust, an organization that is aimed at promoting the slum talent artistic talents. It cuts across gender ensuring that the talented children from the slums and other disadvantaged children get access to education, housing and healthcare.
T-S-1 is composed of four kids of ages between 15 and 18; they have composed and recorded breathtaking clips and records, with the support of well wishers while managed by the founders of the slum talent organization. They have aspirations and dreams which they are working towards achieving and this can be spotted in the productions they have.
“Yes, they are from the slums. Yes, the've always been underdogs. No one has handed them a thing. But that also means that whatever they accomplish in their lives, they'll have earned it. Whatever rewards and joys they reap, they'll appreciate them that much more because they will have come through their sweat and tears; the product of there efforts and talents. they've shown more grit and determination in there childhoods than a lot of adults ever will. That's who they are.”T-S-1
1.2. Dream Realization
To apprehend this dream it all started with a powerful documentary “My Story” which was basically depicting life in the slum as it is, and since then it has materialized from one production to the other. T_S_1 have been able to produce three fascinating video clips, kidz for kidz song to Haiti which was done solely to have compassion with the Haitians, it is mesmerizing and potent. On the other hand, Trash is Cash has also been so influential especially after winning the Link TV award.
Me and my Bike which was a one minute production highlighting the issue of pollution, has gained an immense popularity which cannot go un-mentioned. This does not mark the end of the list, they boast of a number of other influential productions both produced and those that are yet to be unveiled, and this can be recognized from the huge number of views on you tube which has so far summed up to 60,000.
They are always fascinated and enthusiastic about the dreams they have.

T-S-I have been featured and are still remarkably being featured in a number of channels and programmes both locally and internationally. For instance in channel 5 top charts where they have been position three for half a year.
Videos are being played on European and America film festivals, which is a plus for their exposure; MTV-Channel O and MTN have also been on the fore-front in disseminating music by these youthful-powerful performers.
On the other hand, a number of radio stations have been handy in playing music by this group. Just to mention but a few, tune in to our local radio stations and for sure you will notice the artistic voices and the pieces they have been able to put together.
The tracks are also being played in Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and also some international radio stations in USA and the United Kingdom.

- Me and my Bike: This competition was done in a bid to challenge young filmmakers to create a one minute video about climate change. The competition received films from around the globe.
- Bio gas: one verse composition stresses the vitality of choosing to use biogas as a form of energy.
- Climate change: Our activities have brought about all the changes in the climate yet we don’t see to realize. The theme of this song is taking a different perspective and considering changing our view on environment.
- Control: In this Song succumbing to peer pressure is outlawed, correct timing and rightful decision is all that should be adhered to.
- Corruption: The entire continent is overwhelmed with corruption cases, in so many instances we tend to grease the palm of the “significant others” to get away with whatever situation knowing or unknowingly. Watch out and be accountable for your dealings! This is the message passed in this song.
- Crime and passion: This is all about the feeling of love and embrace, we all need to cuddle and be cuddled, and a feeling of love prevails in this powerful masterpiece.
- Fools fall in love: Love can make you glad and is also capable of upsetting us. This work of art tries to find an answer as to why we tend to fall in love.
- Get smart: They fan the flame of education and literacy in this song, it passes across the message of getting education that will stand the test of time. It is a core thing to have.
- Sisi sote: This is a Swahili composition that calls for a unified and a considerate nationality that is geared towards pulling resources together.
- Ghetto life: This is exactly where they are born and bred, the song is basically for them, about them and with them. It is about real life experience.
- Hip- hop: The message here is that hip-hop is alive, it points out that it is still as bright and as the significance it bears.
- My Story: My story never goes stale, it is a melody that goes on forever. It is factual and gives a clear picture of slum life as it is, the struggle, the soaring pain and the intensity in the slum.
- Housing: This is a central concern for the human nature, We need a roof over our heads and we all fit in different “safe havens” It expresses the hardships we endure in places we call homes
- Trash is cash: This song highlights the problems that climate change is causes. For instance Natural resource scarcity where there’s an acute water shortage and a lack of renewable energy sources making life hard across the country. Other problems include, improper garbage disposal, the health hazardous slum life and the harsh lifestyle affiliated to it, the overcrowding, improper sanitation, people embracing the poor environmental slum conditions due to no choice, lack of trees in the slums, illegal cutting of trees in forests, land erosions and depletions which result into the planet getting warmer hence posing a risk to human life.
- Hunger: So many people starve and even die due to lack of food provisions in many regions, ranging from children to adults which is a disconcerting depiction. Many lives are at stake and as a matter of fact effective measures should be undertaken to stamp out hunger.
- Jail song: Recognizing the critical life in prison is hard-hitting, this song is composed and sang to express the life in prison as it is.
- Lost star: Sometimes we get lost in the pleasures of the world knowingly or unknowingly, we lose so much even our greatest endowment and this crumbles our lives never to be salvaged again. Get this message from the song Lost Star.
- Mama: She is always determined, enduring, loving, caring.the list might be endless, she is the epitome that never ceases to love and care through thick and thin. This composition is a special dedication and one of a kind in honor of her.
- My dream: We are all endowed with different dreams and it is up to us to comprehend our own dreams because we’ve got the power to make it work just as we intend to. We have a right to have visions and realize them just as we want to.
- My love: We all desire to love and be loved constantly, the feelings of love can be so strong sometimes though we should not be unsighted. Focus is paramount even in love matters.
- Poverty: Decent housing, food, clothing, education can’t be easily attained due to our state of scarcity. Just a minority is earning a better living while the best part are cold and damp in deficiency resulting in inefficieny.We languish in poverty because of greed and poor planning.
- Unite: This composition is a call for unity amongst and within us so that we can attain our goals as a people. We all need to pool resources together for a better tomorrow and a bright future.
- Water: It is paramount and it is life, wastage is outlawed. It is an essential part of us thus there is a need to ensure that we have adequate to use and not to misuse. This is the message that this composition entirely passes. You just got to think twice because you leave that tap running.

T-S-I have four impressive awards until now:
- T-S-1 won the prestigious MTV positive Climate Award with their track ‘Trash is Cash” which encouraged them to progress further. Trash is Cash’ video clip and audio winner of 2009 MTV positive climate Award in conjunction with the Earth Journalism Awards
- They also boast of link TV awards whereby they thrilled the tough judges Wenders, Danny Clover, Chimamanda Adichiegeal Garcia Bernal, Angelique kidjo and delighted supporters with fascinating compositions and lyrics.
- They were not left behind in APE awards; this was awarded to artists in a music contest that was meant to change the world in 60seconds.
- Another award is passion pictures.

They have had a number of stage performances and these include:
- Sawa sawa concert
- Standard chartered Marathon Concert with 50,000 audiences
- Mater heart run concert where they performed to a 30,000 audience.
- Amani 2009 concert which was organized by Sarakasi trust and the Norwegian Embassy which had 20,000 people.
- Wapi
- Hip-hop underground
- Kidz for kidz in Haiti is another great performance they had while performing for 25,000 funs
- Urban Culture and many more.
- The Nederland Festival mundial where they elated 40,000 people.
- They also had an appealing performance at Goethe Institute.
