Slum Talent Trust

Slum Talent Trust is a talent concern Trust registered in Kenya in March 2009 with a mandate to work in Kenya especially city slums. We are quite innovative and come up with practical applications to slum dwellers focused gender – integrated intervention in social and environmental matters. Our goal is to optimize social, economic, psychological / physical health support and wellbeing of individuals with talent in slum. We do this through talent development, education support, information and skills training, advice on social legal and health matters, creation of social awareness and encouraging a positive self-image and solidarity to our target group. In most homes in the slums food is scarce and children are barely educated .With poor or no education at all, children grow up vulnerable to various social and environmental challenges. There is a heavy toll of HIV/AIDS exemplified by the high number of Aids orphan; many young boys and girls with talents just idle around increasing their susceptibility to antisocial behavior like drug and alcohol use, and that’s why slum talent trust come in to help them nature and use their talents to earn a living/ protect the environment. The organization works with youths with talents living in city slum in providing opportunity for self development and going through a participatory process which enhances the acknowledgement of development gaps created by bias socialization processes which have contributed to the disempowerment state in which they find themselves in, We also partner with local organized groups e.g., local community members, CBOs, FOBs, NGOs, local administration and other likeminded individuals to run our projects

Some of our project components are:-
• Talent for self reliance, (production of audio/visual songs)
• Climate change and Human right awareness,
• Socio – economic empowerment,
• Sponsorship, (education, food, clothing & health)
• Environment protection,

Slum Talent Trust exists to bridge the right economic and social gaps of these groups of people in our project target areas. Our future plan is to develop modern talent/climate change centre with school, recreation facilities, recording studio and health centre, products from this centre will be sold in local/international exhibitions and the money raised to be used for sustainability of our projects. You can also be part of Slumtalenttrust yearn to change the world positively through your support in whichever way you can. JOIN US AND MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR THE SLUM CHILDREN ALL OVER.

APE: Artists Project Earth | A Better World Through Music and the Arts

APE

We have received a grant from Artists Project Earth (APE) which has enabled us to continue our important work. APE is entirely funded by the sale of its albums. If you value our work addressing climate change and environmental justice and want to see organisations like ours flourish, then please do make a donation to this good cause by pledging for a copy of APE’s new album, Rhythms Del Mundo: Africa. Unlike most charitable donations, you get something tangible and enjoyable in return - as well as the knowledge that you are actively supporting some really well-respected organisations and projects. APE are known as the "Fairy God-Funders" of the climate change movement - please help them to continue spreading their magic! Thank You.

Artists Project Earth (APE) aims to create a better world by bringing the power of music and the arts to 21st century challenges. It supports effective projects and awareness raising initiatives to combat climate change, and raises funds for natural disaster relief.
